As part of Suicide Prevention Month, Vinton Today is working with the Benton County Suicide Prevention Coalition to share resources with the community. ---Vinton Counseling Services provides counseling and therapy services for anyone experiencing personal problems, relationship difficulties or family concerns. Common reasons for seeking help include: feelings of depression or anxiety; problems communicating effectively; concern about a child’s behavior; problems with alcohol or drug use; difficulties with anger, hostility or violence; suicidal thoughts; coming to terms with a difficult past; adjusting to stressful situations; concern over relationship issues.

There are no qualifications for a “crisis” to talk to our crisis counselors. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to implement the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA). The NPRM was posted by the Federal Register for public inspection on Aug. 7, 2023 and published in the Federal Register on Aug. 11, 2023. Hawkeye Community College will host the annual Cedar Valley Mental Health Summit on Friday, September 22, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. in Tama Hall on Hawkeye’s Main Campus, 1501 E. Orange Rd, Waterloo, Iowa. Vinton Community Blood Drive - Give a pint, get a pint
The American Red Cross will hold it's Vinton Fall Blood Drive on Thursday , Sept 28th from 12:30--5:30 at the skate center. We all know there have been lots of disasters lately and blood donations dip in the summer. We need 33 more Vintonites to sign up to up to completely fill our blood drive. It only takes about an hour, you get snacks, and an ice cream coupon.
